Ivana Mrčela was born in 1984. In Čakovec, Croatia. In 2012, following the Faculty of Textile Technology (Fashion Design), she received her MA diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where she also received praise from the Academy of Fine Arts for exceptional work during the 2009/2010 academic year. Ivana is the 2011 winner of the National Scholarship - One of the 27 best students in Croatia,‘’Top scholarships for top students’’. Along with this she has been awarded several International awards in the field of graphic arts, in 2015. she was a winner one of the art award at 7th Zagorje Art Salon in Krapina. In 2017. she got an Award for the best young artist under 35 years old at 52nd Zagreb Salon of Applied Art and Design in Zagreb, Croatia. In 2018. she got an Special recognition award at the Seventh Croatian Biennale of Illustration. She got the first prize in Rovinj’s Museum, Croatia and her work becomes a part of the largest collection of contemporary art in Istria. In 2021, she cooperated with the Swedish textile company H&M, where she signed the visual concept for the presentation of their new collection - Innovation Circular Design Stories Collection 2021004 in Slovenia (Ljubljana) and Croatia (Zagreb). In 2022. she recived a Special jury prize at The 1st International Triennal of Portrait in Knin Croatia. Ivana held 22 solo exhibitions and 86 group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. She is a member of the Croatian Association of Artists and Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts. She is a painter and illustrator, currently living in Zagreb, Croatia and working at the Faculty of Textile Technology as an assistant professor.
