there was a study on this, i don't have it available right now, but it studied like 50 years back of all artists all over the place

it boils down to "aligning with prestigious institutions" being the #1 most reliable method to achieve what most define as 'success'. taken all together, that means it's really the same as success in any field.

take it or leave it, i suppose ... along with whatever definition of 'success' they used (likely income and longevity)
