Luminar

Luminar

by Paolo Gentilini
"Luminar” - a heavenly body that gives light, enlightens and inspires others. Inspired by manga, anime and steampunk, this collection of eight digitally manipulated photographs focuses on a character’s journey through a post apocalyptic fictional world. On a ruined planet, shrouded in darkness, a young man embarks on a lonely journey through the ruins of an old society. In search of himself, he follows his own source of light: the Moon, which sets a light of hope. His very goal is neither concretely nor allegorically shown by the author, as he rather lets us guess. “When a world ends, there's always something left over. A story, perhaps, or a vision, or a hope.” - Sandman, #51: "A Tale of Two Cities" This collection is part of a unique multi-media audio-visual exhibition that features additional surreal sculptures and engaging light installations. Luminar was firstly showcased in 2018 in the artist’s hometown Rovinj, Croatia and later at the Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival (Tunel Grič, Zagreb) as well as the Serbian Fantastic Film Festival (SKC, Belgrade) where it won the 1st prize for the best light fixture exhibition.
