SORAH by Animoca Brands Japan is set to launch in summer 2024, providing a launchpad for NFT creators with various sales methods and payment options.

Animoca Brands Japan, a strategic subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has announced the upcoming launch of its new NFT platform, SORAH, scheduled for release in the summer of 2024. SORAH aims to provide a launchpad for NFT projects and creators, offering diverse sales opportunities and support for marketing strategies.

A Platform for NFT Creators

SORAH is designed to support NFT projects with a variety of sales and payment methods. The platform will accept traditional payment methods, such as credit cards, and crypto assets, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience.

Sales methods on SORAH will include lotteries, first-come, first-served options, and allow lists, catering to different project needs. The platform will support Ethereum and Polygon chains and be compatible with popular wallets like Metamask and WalletConnect, with NFTs adhering to the ERC-721 token standard.

Animoca Brands Japan also plans to introduce loyalty programs, offering various benefits for users who engage with the SORAH platform. Details about these programs will be announced in the future.

Bridging Japan and the Global Community

This initiative is part of Animoca Brands Japan’s broader strategy to establish itself as a Web3 gateway, connecting Japan with the global community. By promoting Japanese intellectual property (IP), such as manga and anime, to an international audience, and developing globally appealing content within Japan, the company aims to strengthen Japan’s presence in the Web3 space.

Kensuke Amo, COO of Animoca Brands Japan, stated: “SORAH by Animoca Brands Japan is inspired by our goal to seamlessly connect Japan and the global community in the Web3 domain, just as the sky (SORA [空] in Japanese) connects the world as one…Now, by setting up our own launchpad, we intend to further strengthen these efforts and accelerate mass adoption of Web3 by serving as a gateway for IP between Japan and overseas.”

Government Support for Web3

The Japanese government has shown support for the Web3 sector. In July, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida emphasized the potential of Web3 technology to transform the internet landscape at the Webx Web3 Conference in Tokyo. Kishida highlighted the technology’s role in his administration’s “new capitalism” economic policy, which envisions significant digital and social transformation.

However, Kishida faces party leadership elections in September, with the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) experiencing record-low support. This political uncertainty could impact the future direction of Web3 policies and initiatives in Japan.
